will never not be funny how at the start of the full scale invasion some westerners jumped on the bandwagon to pity “poor Ukrainians” and send thoughts and prayers, you know, as they usually do for a couple of months when there’s a new tragedy in the world, but then turned out that Ukrainians don’t want prayers, they want weapons, and will not just dissapear after awhile, and those people were like “oh you’re annoying. die.”

“I am against war so I will donate to humanitarian aid but not military” my brother in christ without weapons there will be no one left alive to give that aid to

Today is Ukrainian Independence Day!!! And exactly 6 months since the beginning of the war.

If everything was like before, I would have been sitting with my family, celebrating together and thinking about the end of the summer. Planning how to study and where to go during weekends, talking and laughing. But instead I’m writing about the war and how to help our brave warriors online, while staying in Japan and shivering at loud noises, and my parents are hiding at home, because the whole day is filled with air raid danger.

Sometimes I feel like the last 6 months have been a scary dream. I keep on running from missiles in my own dreams, my brain plays phantom sirens and I’m really not used to people living their usual lives, without fear and without war trauma. How no windows are covered in tape to prevent damages from burst waves and how free and safe people are.

And I see more and more injustice from ignorant strangers online. How they blame us for staying alive and wanting not to die in war. How they shift the russia’s fault to us and victimblame. How they fall to russian fakes and propaganda.

The fight never stops, my people on the battlefields and me online proving again and again that we deserve to live in our own sovereign safe independent country. We’re a nation with thousands of years in history. Since 1000000 years ago, when the first humans settled on our lands, to 482 year a.d. when Kyiv was set, to 882 year a.d. when Kyiv Rus was proclaimed by our Duke Oleg, to 1649 when Getmanshyna was proclaimed by Bohdan Khmelnytsky, to 1917 when Ukrainian National Republic was proclaimed, to 1991 when our Independence was returned to us. The fight never stopped. We’re still fighting. We are Ukrainians. And we’ll never stop being ourselves and fighting for our rights, ourselves and our community.

Happy Ukrainian Independence Day to my fellow Ukrainians and to the rest of the world who supports and helps us. We’ll win and when we win, we’re going to work together for the better safer future. It’s my hope and it’s the truth, it’s the light ahead of us, our fate. I’m glad to be together with you, that this tragedy made us unite, and I know that our justice and truth will prevail!
